Every time I've gone to Grendel's Den, I always went during their half-price time. Grendel's Den, located in Harvard Sq in Cambridge, serves dinners half price from 5-7:30 every night and 9-11:30pm from Sunday until Thursday. The only requirement is that you buy a drink with your meal. Though during the warm weather, patrons can seat on the outside patio, the half-price does not apply there.

I wouldn't recomend Grendel's Den for a first date but it's definitely the place to go with a date when you are on a budget.
